There is no other way to put it—we are in the midst of a complete transformation of the U.S. federal government.
Agencies across all functions of the government are being examined for efficiencies and their ability to deliver service value. This includes FedRAMP® (Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program), the organization responsible for accelerating secure cloud adoption.
Which is why I’m excited to share that Juniper Mist™ Government Cloud is now FedRAMP-authorized at the ‘Moderate’ level, meeting all cloud security requirements to assist federal agencies as they accelerate their digital transformations. And I’m especially proud and honored that we achieved this milestone with one of the most important agencies in government as our sponsoring agency, the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).
Critical services, delivered with security assured
Government agency missions are complex and, not surprisingly, so are their networking demands. Agencies are seeking to replace legacy switching and controller architectures at federal facilities with Juniper’s Mist AI-Native Networking Platform. The momentum of this authorization is an exciting validation of the AI innovations in our hardware and the AI leadership of Mist.
What does this mean for agencies?
Juniper Mist Government Cloud is now approved for use by federal agencies units to optimize user experiences and simplify operations across both wired and wireless technologies within their headquarters and branch environments. ‘Moderate’ level systems account for nearly 80% of cloud service provider applications that receive FedRAMP authorization. It is most appropriate for cloud service offerings where the loss of confidentiality, integrity, and availability would result in serious adverse effects on an agency’s operations, assets, or individuals.
The top-level technical benefits of Mist specific to the needs of federal agencies include:
- Centralized control and monitoring of network resources across government clouds
- Streamlined operations and personnel utilization through AI-enabled controls
- Safeguarding data and systems from cyber-attacks
- Improved troubleshooting and faster MTTR (mean time to resolution)
- Zero scheduled network downtime, through the Juniper Mist microservices cloud
The strategic benefits of this authorization are significant. For starters, there is the potential for millions of dollars in cost savings and maximizing allocation of IT management personnel resources in federal agencies during a time of intense scrutiny. At the same time, there is the need to strengthen protection of agency data as threats to security continue to evolve.
In the commercial space, momentum for Juniper’s Mist continues to grow. Now, with FedRAMP authorization, we are excited to bring the power of AI-Native Networking to federal agencies and partners to boost efficiencies for these organizations while securely connecting users to their applications.
FedRAMP authorization follows our previously-announced StateRAMP authorization. Now, from local municipalities serving Main Street to the largest agencies in government with lives at stake, Juniper Mist can safely deliver high-performing, AI-Native networking to support any government agency’s mission.
AI-Native means efficiency is built in
While there is much uncertainty in government right now, this announcement has been in the works for quite some time. Through a unique convergence of government overhaul, increasing maturity of AI for government, and the demand for secure solutions that advance agency missions, we see this as a rare opportunity to truly advance digital transformation.
This announcement is an exciting opportunity to show agencies that Juniper and our integration partners have a tested and validated solution they can use today.
