“Big thinking precedes great achievement.”
This quote by American author Wilferd Peterson immediately popped into my mind when we think about Juniper’s accomplishments this year.
The recent publication of the 2022 Gartner Magic Quadrant for SD-WAN is something we are proud of, where Juniper Networks is recognized as the only vendor in the Visionaries quadrant for the second year in a row.
Juniper’s pioneering vision for AI-driven networking dates to the early days of Mist, where we were the first vendor to bring cloud-driven AIOps to Wi-Fi. In doing so, we gave our customers and partners unique insight into user experiences, coupled with proactive automation to optimize IT experiences. After the acquisition of Mist by Juniper, this vision was extended to the wired domain. Today, we believe Juniper has executed on that vision and continue to show how big thinking does indeed lead to great achievement.
So, what does that have to do with SD-WAN? Juniper acquired 128 Technology a couple years ago to extend the vision of full-stack AI-driven networking to SD-WAN. When combined with 128T’s unique session smart routing capabilities and Juniper’s edge security portfolio, we deliver compelling differentiation to customers and partners. This includes:
- Mist AI – Our innovative Mist AI technology helps make networking predictable, reliable and measurable, with unprecedented visibility into the user experience. Time-consuming manual IT tasks are replaced with AI-driven proactive automation and self-healing capabilities, which lower operational costs and save companies substantial time and money. Marvis, the industry’s first virtual network assistant, driven by Mist AI, makes it easier than ever to identify and address issues using simple natural language understanding.
- Cloud-Delivered Services – Spanning both the network and security domains, our cloud services provide customers with agility and scalability – without compromising operational simplicity. Juniper delivers detailed insights into user, device and application behavior and traffic patterns and, with its WAN Assurance solution, uniquely applies AI and ML technology to automate key tasks and proactively address networking issues before they impact the end-user experience.
- Session Smart Router (SSR) – With SSR, Juniper brings software-defined routing and SD-WAN technology to the next level. SSR creates an application-aware network fabric that meets the most stringent enterprise performance, security and availability requirements and helps to ensure the most positive network experience for end users.
- Comprehensive Security – Juniper offers full-stack SD-WAN and Secure Service Edge (SSE) capabilities that leverage the power of the cloud to optimize both the network and security experience and make it possible to deliver a comprehensive single-vendor SASE solution.
The vision is the same across our entire campus and branch portfolio: leverage AIOps to deliver the best client-to-cloud user experiences.
We believe we have already achieved leadership status with the elements of the portfolio furthest along this journey – wired and wireless access. Now we are confident that we are following in the same path, leveraging the same team, with our visionary secure SD-WAN portfolio.
So, thank you to the Gartner team for recognizing us as a Visionary in the latest Magic Quadrant for SD-WAN. And thank you to the customers and partners who have already embraced the AI-driven WAN as a cornerstone of their enterprise plans. But we are just getting started, so keep an eye on Juniper as we bring our vision to life.
