Mental health is a universal human right – that was the theme of World Mental Health Day this year, and it’s something that Juniper Networks continues to advocate for.
Across the organization, we believe that fostering a culture of mental wellness requires us to empower individuals to take ownership of their wellbeing, and we aim to provide this support through consistent awareness and education, including resources and tools for our employees.
Driving a Focus on Mental Health Across Juniper
Having good mental health is key to ensuring our overall wellbeing. Mental health can influence all aspects of our lives – for example, it can increase our productivity and enhance our performance, be it in the workplace or in personal pursuits, helping us unlock our fullest potential.
With that in mind, Juniper continues to provide a variety of comprehensive and easily accessible mental health support tools and resources to help employees and their families thrive both physically and mentally.
Over the years, we’ve seen an increasing shift in resources being placed on employee wellness across Juniper, from the continuous enhancement of our Cleo parental support program to the introduction of the Task Human app in 2021 and the launch of the Emoha care plans to assist employees in India who need to care for elderly family members.
In addition, our Employee Wellness Program on LinkedIn Learning offers courses related to mental health, along with the Optum Employee Assistance Program, to provide comprehensive, 24/7 support for employees or their family members who are experiencing mental health challenges. At the beginning of this year, we launched Thursday Grab, a weekly resource encompassing a variety of topics to continue educating employees on the latest in physical, mental and even financial wellness.
Equipping Employees in APAC for Wellness
As part of our continuous efforts to enhance and champion wellbeing, we have relaunched our Juniper APAC benefits under a new message with a renewed focus: Be Well. Making Your Health and Wellness a Priority. This is not just a slogan; it represents the commitment Juniper has made to employees’ health and wellness.
We strive to deliver an excellent suite of benefits to our global employees, and we take pride in providing a wide range of competitive offerings that can support the specific needs of Junivators and their families at every stage of their lives.
This year, we also rolled out our very first APAC Wellness Fair to foster the adoption of healthy lifestyles. This included an “Own Your Wellness” Challenge, health talks with professional doctors and workshops with our health partners, including TaskHuman and Cleo. Since the launch of the TaskHuman app in 2021, Juniper employees have hit over 4 million minutes of coaching on the app globally.
Looking Ahead and Prioritizing Our People
As employee health and wellness continue to be our top priority at Juniper, we will look to expand our Be Well principles as we grow and evolve as an organization. This is in addition to continuing regular health and wellness webinars and Juniper Wellness Days, where we provide a day off each quarter for Junivators to rest and recharge.
Our annual employee-wide voice survey continues to be a pivotal platform to help us better understand our employees’ needs and priorities – all of which are important in shaping our goals and strategies to ensure that we always maintain a workplace culture that places our people first.
With mental health being an essential element, we must continue to drive and sustain meaningful dialogue and consistent action around mental health, ensuring that wellbeing remains at the forefront of our organization.
