Managing dynamic networking needs across campus and branch locations can be extremely complex and time-consuming. Not anymore! Our Marvis™ Virtual Network Assistant (VNA) brings over nine years of data science expertise with domain-specific datasets across the Juniper Mist™ universe to simplify your network operations. And this week, we made Marvis even better with some ground-breaking new wired and wireless enhancements.
Making Marvis VNA even better
Marvis provides proactive wired, wireless, and WAN actionable insights, self-driving network operations, and a conversational interface, among other unique capabilities. It is a core component of our AI-Native Networking Platform, delivering quantifiable benefits across campus and branch to data center. When you hear how Juniper Mist reduces OpEx by up to 85% and eliminates up to 90% of trouble tickets, Marvis is at the core of those benefits and more.
In January, we initially raised the bar by introducing Marvis Minis for wireless, the first integrated and always-on digital experience twin. Minis simulates user experiences, identifying potential problems so IT can act before users encounter them and need to submit a trouble ticket. This proactive approach to troubleshooting not only saves users and IT valuable time and improves network performance, but it also leads to significant cost savings.
Today, we announced a new set of Marvis’ wired and wireless innovations that expand on the capabilities we’ve already introduced. In addition to expanding Minis to the wired domain and adding new wired actions, we have now increased visibility and analysis of application experiences for collaboration applications. To help you understand how, along with what this means for your day-to-day networking efforts, let’s dive into the highlights for each area.
Marvis Minis for wired assures exceptional user experiences
We’re particularly excited about extending the power of Marvis Minis to wired networks. In just a few short months since our late January launch, Marvis Minis helped find 12% of wireless pre-connect Marvis actions without requiring any users on the network. Marvis Minis for wired enables Marvis to make network operations proactive by diagnosing wired authentication issues without the need for users or devices to be connected. And just like Marvis Minis in wireless, it doesn’t require any additional network sensors or agents.

Address poor collaboration application performance before it happens
Issues with videoconferencing calls are a continual source of frustration for users and IT operators alike. In addition to disrupting the flow of meetings and sapping operational productivity, they lead to countless trouble tickets — understanding what caused the poor experience and how to fix it is always difficult, sometimes impossible. Was it the client? The network? The application? There is usually no easy answer.
Last year, Juniper introduced a Zoom integration with Mist that finally enabled IT teams to resolve IT tickets faster by rapidly identifying root causes. With our introduction of Marvis Application Experience Insights, we have introduced even deeper AI-Native support for both Zoom and Microsoft® Teams.
Marvis Application Experience Insights explains application performance through the integration of the Shapley data science model with our continuous user experience learning to support Zoom and Teams. This approach enables accurate root cause analysis of potential user experience issues, whether in the WAN, wireless, or a client. Intuitive visualizations that list AP, client, and feature ranking distributions make it easier to proactively address the issues to ensure that collaboration applications are performing optimally, which we expect to deliver exceptional user experiences.

For example, Marvis Application Experience Insights helped a university customer identify and resolve a capacity issue in an executive corner office. The tool found that as users left the campus, they remained connected to this office AP, contributing to collaboration application capacity issues for users still in the office. The university resolved the issues by adding more APs outside the office.

New Marvis Actions find and fix even more problems, even more quickly
To proactively identify and resolve the root cause of network issues across WLAN, LAN, WAN, and security domains, Marvis leverages Mist AI and features called Marvis Actions. For example, Marvis Actions identifies issues such as firmware challenges, missing VLANs, bad cables, congested WAN circuits and more. Our existing wired actions — including missing VLAN, negotiation mismatch, loop detection, port flap, high CPU, port stuck, and switch traffic anomaly detection — all simplify and accelerate network troubleshooting.
New Marvis Action extension takes our wired troubleshooting even further:
- Misconfigured Switch Port can identify switch ports that may blackhole client traffic due to wrong configuration(s).
In wireless, Juniper has also expanded Marvis Action extensions to include:
- Access point (AP) Loop Detection now reports any traffic loops even with Juniper APs alone being present on the network.
- Offline APs which reports Access Points that are not reachable due to an ISP (WAN connection) outage
This broader set of capabilities enhances network troubleshooting by identifying and addressing more of the common issues that commonly impact wireless connectivity and performance.

Overall, these wireless features improve operational efficiency, which drives additional cost savings. Optimized application performance provides wireless users with exceptional experiences.
Elevate networking experiences for your users and team
The great thing about Marvis, Juniper’s AI-Native VNA, is that it is always proactively working in the background to make every connection count while saving your team significant time, money, and effort. Best of all, we continue to ask the right experience-first questions about customers’ and partners’ most pressing networking challenges and determine what new features should come next, so you can look forward to more consistent and meaningful innovations coming soon.
