Validation is always reassuring, especially when you’ve been told it can’t be done. Stepping off of the beaten path, going against the status quo and doing something different isn’t easy. You definitely hear a lot of “no’s” – but, if you know me, you know that I don’t take “no” for an answer.
And that’s the journey Juniper Networks has been on. We have been defying the status quo. We’re on a mission to change how to secure a network.
When Juniper introduced Juniper Connected Security and the power of a threat-aware network at the beginning of 2019, there were many who didn’t take us seriously. We heard a lot of “no’s”. But we kept going, by providing solutions that ensure visibility, threat intelligence, and enforcement capabilities into our networking portfolio, and continuing to improve the capabilities of our SRX Firewalls, because it’s what our customers have been telling us they need.
Our perseverance has paid off. We were just named a Challenger in the 2020 Gartner Magic Quadrant for Network Firewalls!
We believe, this recognition is a validation from Gartner that we’re moving in the right direction for what the market needs. It’s a big deal! Our placement in the Challengers Quadrant is based on our completeness of vision, and our ability to execute.
New architectures, like SASE, are all about consolidating network and firewall components, so I’m thrilled we’re on the right path.
Recognition in this Gartner Magic Quadrant and recent validation from third parties, such as NSS Labs, indicate to us that we should be on everyone’s shortlist, especially for those interested in setting up for the next decade of business growth by merging networking and security.
What’s next? We’ll continue to innovate, challenge the status quo and deliver solutions our customers need to help them build a threat-aware network and extend security to all points of connection, from endpoint to edge and every cloud in between.
The power of the threat-aware network
A threat-aware network uses network infrastructure to extend visibility and enforcement throughout the entire network — capabilities that are traditionally limited to firewalls, endpoint agents, and secure web gateways. To truly protect the network, security must occur everywhere: from routers to switches to firewalls, in multiple clouds, and across all links that make up the network.
At its core, security is about what you see, what you know, and what you do. Juniper Connected Security is all about operationalizing those core components — extending visibility, intelligence, and enforcement to all points of connection to help our customers defend their networks. Juniper does this in part through physical, virtual and containerized SRX Firewalls, which are already recognized throughout the industry for top-notch routing and performance, along with native security capabilities, to accomplish all enterprise firewall use cases.
Again, Juniper is overjoyed to be named a Challenger in Gartner 2020 Magic Quadrant for Network Firewalls!
But this is only the beginning for Juniper Connected Security. We still have work to do, and we’re even more excited for the future as we continue our journey.
