In the technology industry, there is no shortage of marketing buzzwords, oftentimes applied to product capabilities that aren’t truly able to live up to their hype.
Take “single pane of glass”, for example.
When vendors talk about their single panes of glass, they are almost always talking about visibility – but the visibility they are referring to is limited to one specific part of the network or exclusively for their own products. The truth is, there is no single pane of glass in security.
Nonetheless, visibility is incredibly important. If you cannot see it, you cannot protect it. This is true both for the security stack, as well as the network stack, regardless of vendor. The key is unifying dashboard views within one GUI in a way that is not overwhelming and lends itself to action on the part of the viewer specific to their role.
Today, Juniper Networks is announcing Security Director Insights for network security management, which unifies visibility across the network by correlating threat detection information – including detections from other vendor products – and enables one-touch mitigation to quickly address gaps in defense.
Security Director Insights collects and automatically correlates data across multiple security layers – email, endpoint, server, cloud workloads and network – so threats can be detected faster and security teams can improve investigation and response times. Mitigation rules can also be put in place to prevent future attacks.
In addition, with Security Director Insights, customers can:
- Understand when and where an attack is happening by using it to correlate and prioritize security events from multiple security solutions across different parts of the network.
- Use custom threat and incident scoring so that security teams respond to and can mitigate attacks that have the potential to do the most harm to the business.
- Mitigate active threats across the network — on SRX Series firewalls, EX and QFX Series Switches, wired and wireless access points driven by Mist AI, along with third-party solutions — with one click.
Customers will be able to use Security Director Insights to track attack indicators across their networks, from client to cloud, regardless of which vendor product in their environment made the detection.
Detections are presented on a timeline so security teams know when an incident happened, how close a potential breach may be and whether another tool in the environment was able to block or mitigate. All of this is critical visibility needed to understand what threats have been mitigated by existing security tools, what threats need attention and where security teams need to spend their time.
Security Director Insights provides the visibility, correlated intelligence and mitigation needed to stop attackers in their tracks. It also uniquely reflects a business’ risk tolerance and requirements through custom threat scoring.
The addition of Security Director Insights advances Juniper’s mission to safeguard users, applications and infrastructure by unifying visibility, threat detection and response for an organization’s security stack within one management system.
Furthering Juniper’s Connected Security strategy, unified visibility and intelligence leads to better security and Security Director Insights lives up to its promise. This new feature can be added as software to all Security Director customers as part of the SD 20.3 release available in December 2020.
