Last month, Jeff Aaron’s blog highlighted the fact that Juniper has been recognized as a Leader for the fourth time in a row in the 2024 Gartner Magic Quadrant™ for Wired and Wireless LAN Infrastructure. Not only that, but for the third consecutive time, Juniper continues to be positioned Furthest in Completeness of Vision and Highest in Ability to Execute.
We were also named a Leader in the 2024 Gartner® Magic Quadrant™ for Indoor Location Services for the third year in a row. In fact, Juniper is the only vendor recognized as a Leader in both reports.
Highest scores in 5 of 5 Use Cases
The recognition continues with the 2024 Gartner® Critical Capabilities for Enterprise Wired and Wireless LAN Infrastructure report. In my opinion, this report is the most compelling because we were recognized with the highest scores in five out of five Use Cases, comprising:
- Unified Wired and Wireless LAN
- Hands-Off Net Ops
- Branch Offices and SMBs*
- Wired-Only Refresh/New Build
- WLAN-Only Refresh/New Build
Gartner notes in its key findings that, “Network management platforms point to a growing emphasis on artificial intelligence/machine learning (Al/ML)-driven analytics, aimed at baselining, monitoring and proactively resolving network performance issues.”
In my opinion, we have a significant head start on the rest of the industry in these areas, which I will elaborate on in the next section. Years of work on our management platform, with an eye on platform-wide AI integration, have led to exceptional AIOps capabilities that work hand in hand with our robust switching portfolio and zero-trust security approach. At the end of the day, the AI-Native Networking Platform stands out for its strong AI/ML-based functionalities, including advanced application performance monitoring for both wired and wireless.
I believe we received the highest scores in all five out of five Use Cases, including the highest score in the all-important Unified Wired and Wireless LAN Use Case, because Juniper’s full stack campus and branch solution delivers transformational scale and agility. Juniper AI is fast to deploy, easy to operate, and it delivers the lowest TCO and OPEX with the best end-to-end assured user experiences.
Leading the way in the AI-Native era
In 2019, Juniper Networks acquired Mist Systems, a leading developer of AI-driven WLAN solutions. This acquisition signaled to the world that the future of Juniper Networks and the networking sector would be heavily aligned with AI. Our launch of the industry’s first AI-Native Networking Platform in late January further confirmed our commitment to this emerging technology and represents another huge leap forward in the AI networking revolution.
Based on nine years of AI learning, Juniper’s AI-Native Networking Platform is purpose-built to leverage AIOps to assure excellent operator and end-user experiences. It provides the agility, automation and assurance IT teams need for simpler operations, increased productivity, and reliable performance at scale.
The AI-Native Networking Platform brings together all parts of the network—across wired, wireless, WAN, security, and data center. By relying on a common cloud along with Juniper Mist™ AI and the Marvis™ Virtual Network Assistant, our platform delivers unprecedented levels of automation, insight and reliability in network management. We also recently enriched our AIOps with the introduction of Marvis Minis. This first-of-its-kind AI-Native Digital Experience Twin simulates Mist Access Point configurations to proactively identify and resolve potential issues—without the need for sensors or other hardware and without negatively impacting the end user experience.
Putting experience first
At Juniper, we’ve worked hard to remove friction points for wired and wireless networking design, deployment, and troubleshooting. We’ve achieved this through our comprehensive offerings, including the EX and QFX Series switches, along with Mist AI access points. Some of our key differentiators include Campus Fabric technology that helps minimize complexity and deployment challenges; Wired Assurance to deliver reliable wired connectivity for users, devices, and apps; and the Marvis virtual network assistant which accelerates problem identification and resolution across the network. We have even gone so far as to work on optimizing user experiences in specific applications, including Zoom and Microsoft Teams.
Leveraging AI and ML tied to automation is key to driving operational efficiency across campus and branch deployments. It also provides a way for IT operators to shift from reactive to proactive—and even predictive—network management. Figure 6 highlights how the capabilities in our Campus and Branch solutions underpin more efficient operations and better experiences for users and IT alike.
Pushing networking forward
Juniper has been prioritizing the strategic use of AI and ML in our solutions for the better part of the last decade. We believe our consistent recognition in Gartner® Magic Quadrant™ reports for Wired and Wireless LAN Infrastructure and Indoor Location Services—in addition to our highest scores in five out of five Use Cases in the 2024 Critical Capabilities for Wired and Wireless LAN Infrastructure—is a testament to the strength of our vision. If you’re looking for a way to assure that every connection is reliable, measurable, and secure for every device, user, application, and asset, Juniper has your solution.
